Hippie Chick Bakery

The Hippie Chick Bakery located in Kensington, NH was established in 2001 and is proudly owned by Amy Mastronardi and Carl Neunaber.

"At Hippie Chick Bakery, we make Wedding and Special Occasion Cakes using only the freshest and finest quality ingredients, locally grown and organic whenever possible. All our eggs come from our own flock of free range rescued shelter chickens, fed vegetarian organic feed. Many of the fruits and all of our edible flowers come from our own organic gardens or one of the local farms we work with. We take the enviroment into account with every decision we make in the bakery, from organic ingredients in recyclable packaging, to enviromentally friendly cleaning products, and products produced with fair trade practices. That is why we truly are "Quality with a conscience"™!"

"In our Peanut and Tree Nut-free facility, we also produce beautiful cakes that are dairy-free, egg-free, and/or gluten-free, as well as being able to accomodate a myriad of other dietary needs!"

Thrifty hot spots: OPUS

In my travels living in NH, I have come across some cool consignment shops, thrift stores, and flea markets. Today I'm posting about OPUS: Other People's Unique Stuff. Tanya Lacourse (another NH native) just did a post about it over Apartment Therapy:

OPUS (Other People's Unique Stuff) opened its doors a few years ago on Manchester's West Side in the run down strip between South Main and Granite Streets. The consignment shop has been steadily growing a following and the waiting list to consign is now over 6 months long. They operate a separate studio where they re-paint much of the furniture they sell. One of their specialty seems to be painting occasional tables milky blue or milky verdant green.

Local Artist: Liane Tyrell

Handmade Portraits: Enhabiten

Liane Tyrell, a.k.a. enhabiten, is interested in handmade marks. Whether they're in paintings, drawings or the stitches she makes on her unique housewares, the patterns and textures of a surface entice her. Liane specializes in pillows using vintage fabrics but has been known to make other domestic wares such as table runners, soft sculptures and embroidered wall hangings. Her rustic pillows are functional, but they also serve as tactile works of art.

Take a look at Design*Sponge's Sneak Peek of Liane's rustic New Hampshire farmhouse!
